Preserving a Piece of History

Early American Restoration is honored to be restoring the historic windows of the Wayside Inn, one of the oldest continuously operating inns in the United States.
Established in 1716, the Inn has welcomed travelers for more than three centuries and is best known as the inspiration for Tales of a Wayside Inn, the famous collection of stories by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that gave the Inn its name.

Today, the Wayside Inn remains a treasured National Historic Landmark, celebrated for its rich history, beautiful architecture, and enduring place in New England's heritage. Our work focuses on preserving the original craftsmanship and character of these remarkable windows while improving their function and longevity for generations to come.

Why Restore Historic Windows?

Historic windows are more than just part of a building, they're part of its story. Original woodwork, glass, and handcrafted details reflect the craftsmanship of their time and contribute to the character that makes places like the Wayside Inn so special. Rather than replacing these historic features, restoration preserves their authenticity while improving their durability and functionality. With proper care, restored historic windows can continue serving their buildings for generations to come
